BROOKINGS Yorkshire Eye Clinic & Optical now partners with Optum Serve to provide eye exams for the United States Military Entrance Processing Command program.
Local recruits of the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their associated Reserve and National Guard who have medical screening at the Sioux Falls Military Entrance Processing Stations may be referred to Yorkshire Eye Clinic & Optical for an optometry or ophthalmology consult.
Eye exams to assess medical fitness standards for military service ensure operational readiness and safety to accurately detect threats, navigate environments and operate machinery in the field. Comprehensive eye exams can also detect vision-threatening conditions as well as underlying health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
If a recruit’s initial vision results during their medical examination at the Sioux Falls MEPS show something needs a closer look, they may be referred to Yorkshire Eye Clinic & Optical for a more detailed evaluation. Common reasons for referrals include uncorrected vision, higher than expected prescription strength, a history of refractive surgery, astigmatism and past eye injuries.
Patients may schedule an appointment by calling (605) 696-8870. To learn more about Yorkshire Eye Clinic & Optical, visit “https://www.brookingshealth.org/Yorkshire”brookingshealth.org/Yorkshire.
