Mass of Christian Burial for Linda Doren, age 73, of Arlington will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Arlington. Celebrate will be Father David Stevens. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Arlington. Interment will be in the Arlington City Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.
Linda passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Osthus Funeral Home of Arlington.
Linda Kathleen Phelps was born May 10, 1951, to Jerald and Alice Phelps. She attended country school and graduated from Arlington High School in 1969.
Linda married Dennis Dale Doren on Nov. 8, 1968, in Arlington.
Linda cooked at the Arlington Care Center and was a certified dietary manager at the Brookings Hospital.
She and Dennis enjoyed going to movies, concerts, and later traveling. More than anything, they loved attending their grandsons activities.
Linda enjoyed doing ceramics and could often be found outside in her garden or caring for her flowers. She also was active at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Linda is survived by her son, John (Kerry) Doren, of Tulare, her four grandsons, Marcus (Dakota) Doren of Indiana, Cody (Mandy) Doren, of Arlington, Shawn (Tiffany) Doren, of Hitchcock, and Alex (Courtney) Doren, of Arlington, great-granddaughter, Emersyn. Her sister, Susan (Michael) Nemec of Midland, two brothers, Steven Phelps, of Hill City, and Raymond (Angie) Phelps, of Humboldt, NE. Her dog Scooby and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis her parents, her brother, Jeffery Phelps and many family pets.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for memorials to be directed to the Arlington Fire and Ambulance of your local EMS.
