Deubrook girls, ELB, ORR boys win at DVC Classic

ELKTON The Deubrook Area girls and Elkton-Lake Benton and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland boys were victorious on Saturday in the Dakota Valley Conference Classic in Elkton.

The Dolphins beat Hills-Beaver Creek, while the Elks topped Canby and the Raiders beat Sioux Falls Lutheran. The Lady Elks and Dolphin boys lost games.

Girls

Deubrook Area 50, Hills-Beaver Creek 42

The Dolphins used a strong second half to get the win on Saturday.

Deubrook led 9-7 after the first quarter and then trailed 22-19 at halftime. The Dolphins then outscored HBW 13-11 in the third quarter and 18-9 in the fourth.

The Dolphins were led by Mataya Gouws who had 16 points. Matte Bauman had 14 points and Kylee Johnson had 11 points.

Deubrook is now 10-3 on the season and hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.

Edgerton 48, Elkton-Lake Benton 46

The Lady Elks just came up short on Saturday night.

ELB was led by Sydney Devries who had 20 points. Charlie Thooft had 16 points.

The Lady Elks fell to 3-8 and play at Deuel on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Boys

Elkton-Lake Benton 80, Canby 55

The Elks pulled away from Canby in the second half on Saturday. They trailed 16-13 at the end of the first quarter but then outscored Canby 28-15 in the second and led 41-31 heading into halftime. ELB then outscored Canby 39-24 in the second half.

Tanner Drietz led ELB with 24 points. Colt Beck had 16 points and Joseph Nibbe had 13 points. Eliot Erickson had 11 points.

ELB is now 9-2 and plays at Deuel on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 68, Sioux Falls Lutheran 54

ORR had a strong final three quarters on Saturday and that led the Raiders to their first victory of the season.

The Raiders trailed 20-17 at the end of the first quarter. They then outscored the Eagles 18-12 in both the second and third quarters and led 53-44 heading into the fourth. In the fourth quarter ORR had a 15-10 advantage.

The Raiders were led by Boyd Poder who had 26 points. Brayden Hanson had 25 points.

ORR is 1-11 and plays Flandreau Indian in Ramona on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.

Sully Buttes 56, Deubrook Area 44

The Dolphins struggled offensively in the second and third quarter and that led to the loss on Saturday.

Deubrook led 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Dolphins were then outscored 28-16 in the next two quarters and were down 45-31 heading into the fourth. Deubrook had a 13-11 advantage in the fourth.

The Dolphins were led by Chance Schoenfeld who had 16 points. Josh Moberg had 12 points. Isaac Gass had nine points and Charlie Olsen had seven points.

Deubrook is now 6-6 and hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
