Elkton-Lake Benton boys, Flandreau girls victorious

The Elkton-Lake Benton boys and Flandreau girls picked up victories in basketball on Thursday night. The Elks beat Waubay/Summit and the Fliers took down Dell Rapids.

Waubay/Summit beat the Elkton-Lake Benton girls in other area action.

Elkton-Lake Benton 57, Waubay/Summit 43

ELKTON The Elks pulled away from the Mustangs in the second half. ELB led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 33-26 lead into halftime. The Elks extended the lead to 46-36 in the third quarter and then outscored the Mustangs 11-7 in the final quarter.

ELB was led by Eliot Erickson who had 13 points and four rebounds. Joseph Nibbe had 11 points and three steals. Tanner Drietz and Riley Nordmeyer each had eight points. Blake DeVries and Colt Beck each had six points.

Waubay/Summit was led by Traveion Neilan who had 24 points.

ELB is now 3-1 and plays at Tri-Valley on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Flandreau 48, Dell Rapids 43

FLANDREAU The Fliers improved to 3-2 with the victory over the Quarriers.

Dell Rapids led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Fliers responded with a strong second quarter, outsourcing the Quarriers 23-8, and led 31-21 at halftime. Dell Rapids cut the lead to 41-36 at the end of the third, but the two teams each only scored seven points in the final quarter.

Flandreau was led by Sadie Iott who had 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Morgan Sheppard had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Rorie Thoreson led the Quarriers with 18 points. Jersi Schultz and Mya Destigter each had nine points.

The Fliers will play in the Basketball Classic in Madison on Saturday.

Waubay/Summit 40, Elkton-Lake Benton 25

ELKTON The Lady Elks dropped to 3-2 on Thursday night with the loss to the Mustangs.

ELB was led by Jocelyn Prosch who had six points and three rebounds. Andrea Renkly had five points, three rebounds and three steals.

Waubay/Summit was led by Faith Larson who had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aubrey Strong had 11 points and four steals.

The Lady Elks host Tri-Valley on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
