Man dies in two-vehicle collision near Wagner

WAGNER A 94-year-old man from Wagner died in a two-vehicle collision on Monday near Wagner.

The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2021 Subaru Outback, an 87-year-old woman from Wagner, and the driver of a 2023 Peterbilt 389 tractor/trailer, a 65-year-old man from Piedmont, were both westbound on state Highway 46 just west of Wagner. The driver of the Outback pulled over and began a U-turn, colliding with the Peterbilt.

The driver of the Outback was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger was taken to the Wagner Community Hospital with injuries, but died a short time later. The driver of the Peterbilt had no injuries.

TheSouth Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.All information released so far is only preliminary.
