FARGO, N.D. North Dakota States Morgan Russman scored in the 31st minute as the Bison held on for a 1-0 victory over South Dakota State at Dacotah Field on Thursday night.
Russmans goal came off the heels of a goal kick by Jackrabbits goalkeeper Emma Knack but NDSU kept on the pressure when Devon Kavanagh and Hannah Arnold eventually found Russmans left foot for the lone goal of the game.
The Jackrabbits increased their pressure in the second half, attempting 10 of their 14 shots and attempting eight of their 10 corner kicks. But only two of their shots were on goal and were stopped by NDSU goalkeeper Payton Mulberry to preserve the Bisons shutout.
Laney Murdzek and Avery Murdzek each had two shots with a shot on goal. Mia Bosch and Maleah Evans each had two shots. Laure Eckerle, Katelyn Beuilke, Hailee Christensen, Taryn Hettich Solala Nasu and Adrianne Agbayani each had a shot.
Knack had a save for the Jackrabbits.
Morgan Russman had two shots with a shot on goal. Alicia Nead had a shot with a shot on goal. Gabrielle Garrett also had a shot for the Bison.
SDSU fell to 10-3-2 with the loss and will travel to North Dakota for a match at 1 p.m. Sunday.
