WOLCOTT, Colo. The South Dakota State womens golf team is in ninth with a +6 scorecard after 18 holes of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic Monday.
McKenzie Mages paced the squad with an even-par 72 for the first round. She matched par on all but four holes and had two birdies and two bogeys.
The rest of the Jackrabbits are not far behind Mages on the leaderboard. Molly OHara ended the day with a 73 (+1) for 28th place and Reese Jansa carded a 74 (+2) for 34th place. Piper Stubbs is just one more shot back with a 75 (+3) in 46th and Shakira-Ann Kuys posted a 77 (+5) and sits in 64th place.
Sacramento State is 7-under to lead the field. The Hornets are led by Caitlin Maurice, who fired a 65 (-7) Monday.
