The Medary Creek Beavers held their monthly meeting in Elkton at the Community Center on May 5.
Maddisyn called the meeting to order, Hans led the flag pledge and Jackson led the 4-H pledge.
The roll call was: Do you like candy that is sweet or sour?
Old business discussed: April 22, 4-H horse training Brookings at Too Shay Tack Arena. State Shooting Sports was held in Pierre.
New business discussed: Vote for your favorite 4-H T-shirt design. Special foods workshop is June 4. Preregister by May 29.
- Video game development eight-week course; Brookings County 4-H will be serving the Sioux Valley Supper on June 11; 4-H Pork Booth at Arts in the Park will be July 13-14.
- 4-H dog practice starts May 23.
- 4-H horse show change of date to June 11, and horse practice started May 13.
- Youth Livestock Literacy must be completed before July 1, and the next opportunity is May 15 in Brookings from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., come-and-go style.
- June 1 is the deadline for animal entries and DNA requirement; remember to try to think of some demonstrations to do throughout the year (if you have been in a project for three years, you must do a demonstration to get your three-year pin award). Ava did a visual arts demonstration.
Community service and 4-H promotion: Care packages for troops. Members provided items for care packages and assembled them and will send them to troops serving overseas.
Next meeting will be June 9.
