BROOKINGS The Brookings Bobcats claimed conference titles in four different events as they hosted the 2024 Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet at the Brookings Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats will travel to Huron for a meet on Friday afternoon.
Boys
The Bobcats finished in seventh place at the meet with a total of 62 points. Harrisburg finished first with 162 points followed by Brandon Valley, who had 117.5 points and Yankton, who had 106 points.
Aberdeen Central (94 points) and Pierre (78 points) rounded out the top five.
Jon Kahler took home the lone individual championship for Brookings finishing with a time of 1:57.78. The Bobcats also won two relay titles with the 4×400 meter relay team of Kahler, Nathan Smith, Ernest Ting and Elie Wongondombi finishing with a time of 3:28.37 and the 4×800 meter relay team of Smith, Trevin Lounsbury, Ting and Kahler finishing with a time of 8:08.17.
Ting finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.94.
Jordan Mofle finished fourth in the triple jump at 41-03.00.
Alex Wainman finished fifth in the high jump at 5-11.00 and Charlie Bisgaard finished fifth in the long jump at 20-10.00.
Alex Diersen finished sixth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:08.05 seconds. The 1600-meter sprint relay team of Griffin Bartels, Wongondombi, Cole Hockett and Smith also finished sixth with a time of 3:53.16.
Christ Bwangoy-Bankaza finished seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.17 seconds.
The Bobcats also had a trio of eighth-place finishes including Bwangoy-Bankaza in the 110-meter hurdles (17.26 seconds), Diersen in the 1600-meter run (4:38.25) and Wainman finishing eighth in the javelin throw at 141-02.
The boys 4×100 meter relay team of LaVonte Carter, Jack Griggs, Gus Armenta and Gavin Anderson also finished eighth with a time of 45.38 seconds while the 4×200 meter team of Jack Griggs, Skyberg, Anderson and Owen Hoppe finished eighth with a time of 1:37.69.
Four Bobcats finished in 10th place including Bartels in the 200-meter dash (23.28), Skyberg in the 400-meter dash (54.02 seconds), Lounsbury in the 3200-meter run (10:24.32) and Mofle in the long jump (19-09.00).
Girls
The Bobcats finished ninth at the conference meet, finishing with 24.5 points. Brandon Valley won the meet with 201.75 points, followed by Harrisburg with 144 points and Aberdeen Central with 110.25 points.
Watertown finished fourth with 89 points and Pierre finished fifth with 69 points.
Logan Smidt won the ESD title in the javelin throw with a toss of 111 feet and six inches.
Kennedy Ronning finished fourth in the pole vault at 9-03.00.
The Bobcats 1600-meter sprint relay team of Ava Petterson, Cadence Dauer, Quinn Ulvestad and Sophia Schmit finished fifth with a time of 4:42.49.
Clara Delbridge finished seventh in the discus throw at 106-01.
Lily Murray finished fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.56. Addie Smetana also finished eighth with a time of 12:20.66 in the 3200 meter run.
The Bobcats had two eighth-place finishes in relay events with the 4×400 meter relay team of Murray, Ava Petterson, Cadence Dauer and Ulvestad finishing in 4:21.71 and the 4×800 meter relay team of Adie Smetana, Sophia Schmit, Shae Lefers and Ava Flaskey finishing with a time of 11:01.82.
The 4×100 meter relay team of Alaina Evans, Ronning, Elise Lefers and Amari Ward finished ninth with a time of 52.07 and the 4×200 meter relay team of Ward Ulvestad Elise Leffers and Ronning finished ninth with a time of 1:52.56.
Isabel Overby finished 10th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:42.58 and Ward finished 10th in the long jump with a time of 16-02.25.
