High school girls basketball: Brookings Bobcats pick up road win at Sioux Falls Washington

SIOUX FALLS The Brookings Bobcats used a 14-point night from Kymber Buys and a strong second half to pull away from Sioux Falls Washington for a 49-39 victory on Tuesday night.

The Bobcats and Warriors were neck-and-neck in the first half as the two teams were tied at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter before Washington took a 21-10 lead into halftime. Brookings used a 17-10 advantage to lead 37-31 at the end of the third quarter and out-scored the Warriors 12-8 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Macy Even complimented Buyss performance with 12 points and seven assists on the night while Tess Burns had eight points, two assists and a rebound. Amari Ward also added six points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.

Dana Harpe had nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals for Washington while Tierney Schramm had seven points and three rebounds Rylan Kennett, Ava Brink and Isabel Carda all had six points for the Warriors.

The win helped the Bobcats improve to 3-10 on the season. Brookings will travel to Sioux Falls Lincoln on Thursday night.
