High school girls basketball roundup: Flandreau, Arlington, Elkton-Lake Benton earn victories

Three area girls basketball teams secured victories on Thursday night. Flandreau and Arlington remained undefeated, beating Beresford and Castlewood, respectively. Elkton-Lake Benton beat Iroquois/Lake Preston.

Flandreau 62, Beresford 37

FLANDREAU The Fliers improved to 3-0 with the win.

Lizzie Pavlis led Flandreau with 20 points and eight rebounds. Claire Sheppard stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals. Lily Klein had 11 points and four steals. Sadie Iott had 10 points and six rebounds.

Beresford was led by Ella Merriman who had 18 points.

The Fliers play Arllington in the Entringer Classic in Colman on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Arlington 46, Castlewood 38

ARLINGTON The Cardinals improved to 4-0 with the win.

They led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 23-17 lead into halftime. Arlington extended the lead to 33-19 at the end of the third and were able to keep the Warriors at arms length throughout the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals shot 31.6% from the field and were 3-of-19 from three. They were led by Addalyn Steffensen who had 19 points and five rebounds. Harley Johnson had 10 points and eight rebounds. Jolyssa Steffensen had 10 points.

Castlewood shot 40% from the field and was 2-of-5 from three. The Warriors were led by Natalie Akin who had nine points. Ella Hunter had eight points and seven rebounds and Cassidy Kirwan had seven points.

The Cardinals play Flandreau on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Elkton-Lake Benton 49, Iroquois/Lake Preston 41

LAKE BENTON Both teams scored eight points in the first quarter and the score was 20-20 at halftime. ELB then took a slim lead into the fourth quarter as the Lady Elks led 29-27. They then pulled away in the fourth.

Kylie Ramlo led the Lady Elks with 24 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Tevan Erickson had 16 points, 11 steals and five rebounds. Charlie Thooft had six points and eight rebounds.

ILP was led by Addison Moore who had 15 points. Kera Dubro had 12 points.

ELB improved to 2-1 and ILP dropped to 1-2. Both teams will play in the Entringer Classic on Saturday in Colman. The Lady Elks will play Chester at 2 p.m. and the Sharks play Deuel atnoon.
