Sandra JoAnn Wilber age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday February 9, 2024, at the Brookings Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at St. Thomas More Parish in Brookings with burial to follow at St. Thomas More Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.

Born March 7, 1939, to Selmer and Stella (Johnson) Rymerson in Brookings County South Dakota, Sandra was the second to youngest of six children.

She attended grade school at District No. 55 and graduated from Brookings High School in 1957. She went on to graduate from South Dakota Beauty Academy in 1958 in Sioux Falls, SD.

Sandra married Arthur Wilber on Oct. 24, 1959, and together they made a home and raised four children. She was employed over the years by Marvin Hughitt Hotel Salon in Huron, SD, Sterling Technology and Made With Love Shop in Toronto, SD, White Health Care Center and Deubrook Area Schools in White, SD and Main Street Floral + Goods in Hendricks, MN.

Sandra enjoyed summers at the farm with her extended family, playing many card games, volleyball games and all kinds of family fun. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, visiting and having coffee with neighbors, dancing, bird watching and caring for her family at every opportunity. She was involved in various school, community and church activities through the years.

Sandra was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Brookings, and Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto, SD for many years until moving back to Brookings, SD. She then became a member of St Thomas Moore Catholic Church.

She will be remembered as a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always made time for her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She was a devoted sister, aunt and friend who loved to have fun with family.

Blessed be her memory as she has left her earthly home and entered her eternal home.

Sandra is survived by her beloved family, husband of 64 years Art, children, Lori (Kevin) Olson, Hendricks, Todd (Karen) Wilber, Sioux Falls, Steve (Tara) Wilber, Brookings and Brian (Lisa) Wilber, Dell Rapids.

Grandchildren: Danny Olson, Tom (Mandy) Olson, Jennefer (Jason) Schwartz, all of Hendricks, Eric (Sara) Wilber, Sioux Falls, Sam Wilber, Jayden Wilber, Drew Wilber, Brookings, Madelynne Wilber Brookings and Makenna Wilber, Dell Rapids.

Great grandchildren: Camden, Emma, and Livi Olson.

¡Sisters-in-law, Marge Rymerson, Toronto and Elsie Rymerson, Brookings. High School friend and sister-in-law, Mary (Chuck) Cecil, Brookings, and brother-in-law, Tom Madsen of Fairfax, VA. Her many nieces and nephews were also a wonderful part of her life.

Sandra is also survived by the dear residents, staff and administration at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center who truly helped her to live in dignity and grace for the past two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Selmer and Stella Rymerson, parents-in-law, Glen and Rebecca Adamson, brothers Stanley and Sanford, sisters Shirley, Sylvia and Sharon, sisters-in-law Barbara Rymerson and Cathy Madsen, brothers-in-law, Paul Hansen, Dale Bren, Edward Deibert and Rollie Wilber.
