OLLI going strong in Brookings

Posted

The Brookings OLLI members have been attaining knowledge and having fun in their classes this spring semester. Here are a few of the classes held so far.

One of the many creative arts classes was Neurographic Art taught by Lisbeth Solum. This class was perfect for the non-artist. Members created colorful art through mindfulness using a variety of rulers, templates and markers.

Under the experienced athletic guidance of Benda Berseth, members met at the SDSU Miller Wellness Center to learn the basic rules of badminton. They all got plenty of exercise while enjoying every overhead forehand and ace.

SDSU President Barry Dunn discussed the SDSU Wokini Initiative from its conception to current status. OLLI members learned how this program provides access and support to Native students from nine South Dakota reservations. The main goal is increasing the students' well-being and education, thereby benefiting all South Dakotans.
