Marian Borstad

Marian L. Borstad, 96, passed away at United Living Community, where she has resided the last 10 years, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce.
Marian L. Borstad was born on May 9, 1927, in Brookings County, South Dakota, the daughter of Christ and Lizzie (Bredaken) Borstad. Marian spent her early years in rural Bruce, SD and received her elementary education in Eureka District No. 56, and was a graduate of the Bruce High School in 1944. After receiving her education, she worked at South Dakota State University, Fenn Brothers, in Sioux Falls, SD, Augsburg Publishing House and Bemis Company in Minneapolis, MN, and returned to South Dakota in 1971. She was employed at S.D.S.U. from 1977, most recently as a secretary in the Nutrition and Food Science Department, until her retirement in 1992.
She was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church in Bruce, Ruth Circle and the Women’s Missionary Federation. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spent many hours visiting people in various nursing homes.
Marian is survived by 11 nieces, Barb, Rosie, Bev, Muriel, Peggy, Marilyn, Donna, Dianne, Sheryl, Sandra and Carol; 8 nephews, Merv, Ron, Ted, Don, Larry, Gary, Robert and Michael and many other cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
