James D. Lusk, Sr., 85, of Sioux Falls passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024, at Bethany Home, Brandon, SD, under hospice care.
Jim was born June 14, 1938, at Carthage, SD, to Luverne and Lucille (Michel) Lusk and received his education at Howard Public School.
He married Betty Witt on July 16, 1960, at Luverne, MN, and they lived in Sioux Falls. They moved to Huron in 1961 then returned to Sioux Falls where he worked for Lakeside Dairy.
In 1969 they moved to Brookings and Jim managed Brookings Monument Company for many years and later worked for Rausch Monument Company returning to Sioux Falls in 2012. Jim worked a total of 47 years in monument sales.
Jim’s hobbies were cars, motorcycles, antiques and traveling with Betty. They travelled the U.S. and 11 foreign countries, eight on a motorcycle, and wintered for 11 years in Arizona.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty of 63 years, two children daughter Jodi Ann Loughery, Kalispell, MT; son James Dean (Rovilyn) Lusk, Jr., Long Island, NY; six grandchildren, Ashley, Tanner, James Dean III, Courtney, Christina, James Dean IV; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Zoe, Gage; sister Carol Jean Carter, Okeechobee, FL; and sister-in-law Shirley Myers, Sioux Falls, SD.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
