Flandreau boys, Madison Bushkofsky win Big East tournament

BALTIC — The Flandreau and Sioux Valley golf teams competed in the Big East Tournament on Friday afternoon.

The Flandreau boys won the tournament as a team and the Cossacks came in second on the boys’ side. The Sioux Valley girls came in fourth place and the Fliers did not have enough golfers to place as a team on the girls’ side.

Boys

Flandreau shot 257 as a team. Alfie Henderson led the way, shooting a 79 and coming in first place. Kaden Burshiem came in sixth place for the Fliers (83) and Jon Burshiem finished in 19th (95). Brant LeBrun was not included in team scoring and he came in 25th (102).

Sioux Valley was led by Tate Steffensen and he came in fifth place after shooting an 83. Jameson Degan came in eighth place (86) and Maverick Nelson came in 11th (89). Jack Optiz was not included in team scoring and he finished in 13th (90).

Beresford came in third place (258) in the team standings. Chester finished in fourth (259) and McCook Central Montrose rounded out the top five (277).

Beresford’s Dustin Mass came in second (81). Beresford’s Kaden Anderson finished in third (82) and Chester’s Alfred Frankenhoff came in fourth (82).

Girls

Flandreau’s Madison Bushkofsky won the tournament on the girls’ side after shooting an 82. The Fliers’ other golfer was Cara Kelm and she came in 22nd (119).

The Cossacks shot a 317 as a team to come in fourth place. Caitlyn Cradduck was the top finisher for Sioux Valley and she came in fifth place after shooting a 92. Keyra Kruse came in 15th (110) and Lillie Noble finished in 20th (114). Macy Bohnet was not included in team scoring and she came in 23rd (123).

Chester won the team portion on the girls’ side after shooting a 258 as a team. Beresford came in second (299), Baltic came in third (314) and MCM finished in fifth (325).

Chester’s Jadyn McDonald and Cadence Oliver came in second (83) and third (85), respectively. The Flyers also had the fourth place finisher as Kennedy Alverson came in fourth (90).
