VOLGA — Three area track & field teams participated in the Brace-Hopfinger Relays at Sioux Valley High School on Tuesday afternoon.

Elkton-Lake Benton boys and Great Plains Lutheran girls took home the team titles in the meet. Flandreau and Sioux Valley were the other area teams that participated.

BOYS

Elkton-Lake Benton

The Elks finished with 146 points as a team. Elkton-Lake Benton won five events overall.

Quinten Poindexter and Tanner Drietz each won field events. Poindexter took home two titles as he won the high jump with a jump of 6-foot-3-inches and he was victorious in the long jump with a jump of 21-feet-0.75-inches. Drietz won the triple jump with a jump of 41-feet-8.75-inches.

Blake DeVries won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.34. The relay team of Riddick Westley, Tanner Stein, Colt Beck and Quinten Poindexter won the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:35.28.

Tanner Stein came in second in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.59. Eliot Erickson came in third in the 300 meter hurdles (45.89) and DeVries came in third in the 110 meter hurdles (16.50). Joseph Nibbe came in fourth in the 800 meter run (2:11.98) and Nate Timm came in fifth in the 800 (2:13.74).

Taiton Boomsma came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-feet-2-inches. Tanner Drietz came in fourth in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet-5.5-inches and Riddick Westley came in fifth in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet-2.75-inches.

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks came in third with 105 team points. They won a total of events. Donovan Rose won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.44 seconds. Carson Wosje, Skylar Trygstad, Tate Steffensen and Brady Hiltunen won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:51.85.

Rose came in second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.48 seconds. Trygstad came in second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:56.17. Carson Wosje came in third in the 400 meter run (53.91) and Hiltunen came in third in the 800 meter run (2:11.86). Mitchell Guthmiller came in fourth in the 400 (53.97).

Braden Danzeisen had two top–five finishes in field events. He came in third in the long jump with a jump of 19-feet-5.5-inches and fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 38-feet-1.5-inches.

Rose, Jakob Guthmiller, Mitchell Guthmiller and Brock Christopherson came in second in the Sprint Medley Relay (3:49.44). Christopherson, Wosje, Mitchell Guthmiller and Hiltunen came in second in the 4x400 relay (3:38.72).

Flandreau

The Fliers came in ninth with 39 points. They had two top-five finishes individually. Brenton Westberry finished in third in the 200 meter dash (24.04) and Tanner Reed came in fifth in the 1600 (5:18.81). The relay team of Westberry, Benjamin Klum, Micah Otto and Paul Parsley finished in third in the 4x400 (9:51.31).

GIRLS

Sioux Valley

The Cossacks tied with Flandreau for second with 101 points. Sioux Valley had three individual winners and one relay win.

Isabelle Bloker won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:10.78 and Adison Renkly won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.17 seconds. Summer Guthmiller won the discus with a throw of 113-feet-1-inch.

Talya Vincent, Maci Licht, Liberty Trygstad and Ava Gatzke won the 4x800 relay with a time of 10:57.00. Renkly, Abby Haaland, Vincent and Licht came in second in the sprint medley relay (4:49.65).

Emma Gorvin came in second in the high jump with a jump of 5-feet-1-inch. Renkley came in second in the triple jump with a jump of 32-feet-0.5-inches. Savanna Guthmiller came in third in the discus with a throw of 92-feet-6-inches. Vincent came in third in the 1600 meter run (5:43.76).

Renkly came in fourth in the 100 meter dash (14.00). Trygstad came in fourth in the 800 meter run (2:46.20). Brooke Bjerke came in fifth in the 400 (1:11.87) and Brooke Knutson came in fifth in the high jump with a jump of 4-feet-4-inches.

Flandreau

The Fliers won four events. Faith Wiese won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.32 and Morgan Sheppard won the 400 with a time of 1:02.90. Sadie Iott won the triple jump with a jump of 32-feet-2-inches. Wiese, Sheppard, Kiley Westberry and Ella Hoffman won the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:20.22.

Sheppard also came in second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 1:02.90. Westberry finished in second in the 800 (2:40.68) and fourth in the 1600 (5:56.02). Ella Hoffman came in third in the 400 (1:09.81) and fifth in the 100 (14.16). Diamond Roy came in fifth in the 800 (2:46.44) and Josie Hamilton came in fifth in the 1600 (6:01.49).

Lily Klein came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 30-feet-7.75-inches and fifth in the javelin with a throw of 77-feet-1-inch.

Elkton-Lake Benton

The Elks came in sixth on the girls’ side and had 63 team points. They won one event as Sydney DeVries won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.14 seconds. She also came in fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (17.97). Ivy Jaacks came in second in the 100 meter hurdles (17.72) and third in the 300 meter hurdles (53.08).
Jaacks, DeVries, Kylie Ramlo and Malayna Hemmen came in second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:33.83. Ramlo also came in fifth in the long jump with a jump of 14-feet-1-inch.
