The Arlington boys’ basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Region 2B Playoffs on Monday night as the Cardinals blew out Flandreau Indian 61-20.

Arlington advances in Region 2B Playoffs

ARLINGTON — The Arlington boys’ basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Region 2B Playoffs on Monday night as the Cardinals blew out Flandreau Indian 61-20.

Arlington led 17-10 at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals then outscored Flandreau Indian 20-0 and led 37-10 at halftime. Arlington extended the lead to 47-14 at the end of the third and then outscored Flandreau Indian 14-6 in the final quarter.

The Cardinals shot 37.9% from the field and were 5-of-23 from three. They were led by Tommy Bacon who had 12 points and six assists. Keden Steffensen and Blake Madsen each had 11 points. Steffensen also had seven rebounds. Paxton Rheault had 10 points and Riley Miller had nine points.

Flandreau Indian shot 20.5% from the field and was 2-of-17 from three. Ryan Papakee had three points and 11 rebounds and Genio White Hawk had six points.

Arlington had 50 rebounds and Flandreau Indian had 25. The Cardinals had 13 turnovers and Flandreau Indian had 23.
Arlington is now 4-17 and will play at No. 1 seeded De Smet tonight at 6 p.m.
