ABERDEEN – A 21-9 fourth quarter turned a two-point deficit into a ten-point win for the Brookings girls’ basketball team as they went into Aberdeen Central and picked up a 50-40 road win on Thursday night.

VOLGA – The Sioux Valley girls’ basketball team got back on track Thursday night. The Cossacks had lost two-straight games, but snapped the small losing streak with a 50-33 win over McCook Central/Montrose.

Bobcats come up short against Golden Eagles

BROOKINGS – Coming off a stretch where Brookings took it on the chin against O’Gorman, then had their game against Brandon Valley called off due to health and safety guidelines, the Bobcats were looking to get back into the win column against Aberdeen Central, the first of four straight games in the confines of their home gym. The Golden Eagles prevailed, however, claiming a 67-56 win over Brookings on Thursday night inside Bob Jostad Gymnasium.

OMAHA – The South Dakota State men’s and women’s basketball teams swept a doubleheader against Omaha on Thursday night. The men won 95-86 and the women won 72-49.

Batter up: girls’ softball to start play in spring

PIERRE – High school girls’ softball in South Dakota will start in March. The spring season was approved by the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors at its meeting on Wednesday.
