Young musicians invited to SDSU for 2022 camps

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State University’s School of Performing Arts will hold camps intended for band members, string players and singers. The three camps will be held in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on campus.

The All-State Music Camp will take place June 13-17. This camp is an all-day program with residence hall/overnight and meal plan options. All school musicians who have completed seventh grade are eligible to attend. The program includes ensemble activities, individualized instruction with SDSU faculty, jazz instruction, classes in music technology, games and more. The All-State Camp for Young Band Members will also take place June 13-17 in the mornings. The camp is led by Mary Cogswell and School of Performing Arts Director David Reynolds. It is intended for young instrumentalists who have completed either their first or second year of band instruction. The String Orchestra Summer Camp will take place June 20-24 in the mornings.  The camp is led by SDSU associate professor John Brawand and local string teachers. This camp is intended for young string players having completed between one and four years of string instruction.
