VOLGA – A Brookings woman was injured in a car vs. bicycle accident Sunday near Volga, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
Anna Grace Bearss, 23, of Brookings, was transported to the Brookings hospital by the Brookings Ambulance to be treated for unknown injuries, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
The accident was reported at 7:40 a.m. Sunday and occurred at Highway 14 and 462nd Avenue west of Volga, Sebring said.
Amy Mae Salter, 41, of De Smet, was driving a 2007 Buick Lucerne west on Highway 14.
“Amy advised that she may have nodded off as she was fatigued and did not see the bicyclist when she struck her,” Sebring said.
Bearss was traveling west on the shoulder of Highway 14, he added.
The Lucerne sustained $1,000 worth of damage.
Also responding was the Volga Fire Department.
