BROOKINGS – A woman was arrested after an alleged domestic assault incident, according to Brookings Police.
The incident was reported at 11:52 p.m. last Friday and occurred in the 300 block of State Avenue, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
“When officers arrived, they spoke with two individuals at the residence. They learned that those two individuals are in a domestic relationship,” Gebers said.
Cherldean Burton, 33, of Brookings, was arrested on suspicion of simple assault domestic and obstructing.
“Officers learned she struck a male individual in the chest,” Gebers said.
“As far as the obstructing portion, she was uncooperative with officers and failed to comply with their commands,” Gebers said.
Alcohol was a factor, Gebers said.
