Werpy, Davis cast in PRT 2021 season

BROOKINGS – Kelsey Werpy and Olivia Davis will appear on the Prairie Repertory Theatre stage this summer.

Werpy, a 2019 Brookings High School graduate, studies theatre, film and dance at South Dakota State University. This summer, she will make her professional theatre debut. 

“I am looking forward to the rehearsals for the show I am stage managing. I am also looking forward to working with everyone and the collaboration that theatre provides,” she said.

This summer, Werpy will serve as stage manager for the first show of the season, “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged).” She will also serve as house manager for “The Gin Game.” She will also be found working in the scene shop.

Werpy is the daughter of Anne and Jason Werpy of Brookings.

Davis, a PRT 2019 alumna and South Dakota State University student studying theatre, dance and performing arts administration, looks forward to the “creative atmosphere and community” the professional theatre company provides: “Creative human beings will find ways to overcome adversity, and I’m very lucky to be surrounded by so many.”

For her second summer of PRT, Davis will appear as a daughter in the second show of the season, “Quilters.” She will also serve as the publicity head for the company. 

Davis is the daughter of Janell and Jeff Davis of Brookings.

Prairie Repertory Theatre opens with “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged)” June 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and June 12 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. “Quilters” opens June 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and June 19 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. “The Gin Game” performs June 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. and June 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The season closes with the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” June 30-July 2 at 7:30 p.m. and July 3 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 

All shows will be in the Oscar Larson Theatre in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the South Dakota State University campus in Brookings.

Prairie Repertory Theatre will continue to abide by SDSU’s and South Dakota Board of Regents’ safety considerations and protocols concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.

No shows this summer will be livestreamed. PRT has single-ticket and group-ticket options. In addition, PRT season subscribers can buy the Flex Pass, which includes a ticket to each production in the 2021 season.
