BROOKINGS – South Dakota State divers Joseph Weber and Alex Crow are headed to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships March 6-8 after qualifying during the regular season.

Weber, a native of Omaha, Neb., will be competing for the second consecutive year. The sophomore is currently ranked third in school history in both the 1- and 3-meter events.

Throughout the season, Weber won the 1-meter springboard event at five dual meets and placed in the top 10 in both 1- and 3-meter events at every competition.

Crow, an Eagan, Minn., native, had a successful first season as a Jackrabbit. The freshman is currently ranked in the top 10 in both diving events at SDSU; fifth in the 1-meter and seventh in the 3-meter.

Crow placed in the top 10 all season and finished in the top eight at The Summit League Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 1 meter and eighth-place finish in the 3-meter event.

"Our zone is the one of the most competitive zones in the nation, so it will be a great experience for both Joey and Alex," SDSU diving coach Erin Lionberger said. "Since they are both young, it is a big deal to have them qualify and be able to compete against some of the best divers in the nation, as well as some Olympic trial qualifiers. This will be Joey's second time competing, so we are looking for him to improve from last year and have a solid meet."

The NCAA Zone Diving Championships are hosted by Missouri and take place at the Mizzou Aquatic Complex in Columbia, Mo.
