BROOKINGS – Two people were injured in a scooter accident earlier this week, according to Brookings Police.
The accident was reported about 7:02 p.m. Monday and occurred at the intersection of Main Avenue South and Fifth Street South, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
“The scooter, operated by 20-year-old Madison O’Connor of Brookings, was traveling north on Main Avenue South and lost control on a patch of loose sand as she attempted to turn east onto Fifth Street South,” Gebers said.
“O’Connor and her passenger, 20-year-old Mariah Pistorius of Brookings, received minor injuries. The Brookings Ambulance responded and accessed Pistorius, who was treated on the scene,” she said.
Neither were wearing a helmet, she added.
“Damage to the Atlantis Derbi scooter is estimated at approximately $100,” Gebers said.
