Thomas H. Chaulsett, 72, of Brookings, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Arlington Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services have been set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Brookings. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Rude’s Funeral Home, Brookings. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Thomas H. Chaulsett was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Brookings, the son of Leland and Marie (Lavin) Chaulsett.

Tom received his education in the Brookings schools. He served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964. After returning to Brookings, he was employed at Peavey Lumber and Great Plains Lumber for many years. He also worked for Martin Oil Company. He owned and operated Chaulsett Construction. In 1990, he was employed as custodial supervisor at SDSU.

Thomas married the love of his life, Judy, on Feb. 26, 1990. In 2012, he was employed at Southland Court Apartments until present.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings. He enjoyed fishing and making ceramics.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Judy, of Brookings; two daughters, Elizabeth (Arnold) Chapin and Laurie Anderson, both of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Glen Bren of Brookings; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ole Chaulsett; and two sisters, Evelyn Hanson and Vickie Bren.
