COLMAN – Sioux Valley Energy is still trying to restore power to those whose lights went out during last week’s blizzard.
The energy cooperative still had more than 1,200 customers without power as of late Monday morning.
That is down from a high of nearly 10,000 late last week.
“We have quadrupled our crews to 122 people working in the field today,” Carrie Vugteveen, SVE director of communications and government relations, said midday Sunday of the ongoing efforts. “There is also a significant amount of equipment in use on the system including 45 bucket trucks, 20 digger trucks, three track diggers and four skid loaders and pole setters.”
According to the Sioux Valley Energy outage map, the cooperative had 28 customers in Brookings County without power late Monday morning. Also among the 1,223 customers without power were 253 in Moody County and 434 in Lake County.
