BROOKINGS – A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman at her home, according to Brookings Police.
The incident was reported at 10 p.m. Thursday and occurred in the 1000 block of Western Avenue, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
Shawn Running Horse, 24, of Brookings, was arrested for simple assault domestic and third-degree burglary. He was transported to the Brookings County Detention Center, Gebers said.
Officers responded and spoke with both the victim and suspect, she said.
“He entered the victim’s residence without permission and then when he was instructed to leave, he assaulted her. She had just minor injuries from being shoved,” Gebers said.
The burglary charge stems from the suspect being in a residence or structure when they are not supposed to be there and have the intent to commit a crime, she said.
“The assault would have been that part of it,” Gebers said.
