ELKTON – A structure fire destroyed a shop and its contents Thursday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire was reported at 5:40 p.m. Thursday and occurred in the 500 block of East North Drive in Elkton, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“The shop contained several 55-gallon drums of racing fuel, HVAC inventory, a welder, an El Camino racing car, a 1977 Chevy pickup, heat pumps, and a large amount of tools. The building and its contents are believed to be a total loss,” Sebring said.
The Elkton Ambulance and Elkton Fire Department also responded.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation with the sheriff’s office.
