Seeman leads Jacks in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The South Dakota State women’s golf team is in 17th place after the first 36 holes of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Mia Seeman had the best outing for the Jackrabbits. After a +6 first round, Seeman turned in a team-best +2 scorecard on the second 18 holes. She jumped 11 spots on the leaderboard between the first and second rounds and sits in a tie for 57th place.

Shakira-Ann Kuys and Hester Sicking also improved from round one to round two. They each carded 78 (+7) on the first 18 holes and improved by shooting a 75 (+4) over the next round. Kuys and Sicking are tied for 72nd overall.

Alex Kandolin and Lani Potter rounded out the Jackrabbit team. Kandolin finished the day +14 and Potter was +20.

As a team, SDSU totaled 611 (+43) Monday. The Jacks sit seven strokes behind Eastern Kentucky, the next closest team.

Kerstin Fotu of Brigham Young University leads the field with a 136 (-6). Brigham Young and Tennessee sits atop the team standings with matching 571 (+3) team scores.

Four teams at the tournament are either ranked or receiving votes, led by No. 20 Brigham Young University
