SDSU women in 2nd in home tournament

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State women’s golf team hosted the first and second round of the Jackrabbit Intercollegiate on Monday at the Brookings Country Club.

It’s the Jackrabbits only tournament in Brookings and SDSU sits in second place out of six teams after the first two rounds. SDSU had a team score of 613 as the Jacks shot a 303 in the first round and a 310 in the second round. 

North Dakota State leads the team portion of the tournament with a score of 604. The Bison shot a 303 in the first round and a 301 in the second. St. Thomas is in third (626) and North Dakota is in fourth (641). Green Bay is in fifth (647) and Sioux Falls is in sixth (686).

SDSU’s Alex Kandolin is leading the individual tournament after shooting two-over for the day. NDSU had a trio of player’s finish in second, third and fourth. Leah Skaar shot three-over, Jo Baranczyk shot a six-over and Madi Hicks shot a nine-over. St. Thomas’ Courtney Wedin is tied Hicks for fourth with a nine-over as well.

SDSU’s Tatum Depuydt is tied for 10th (+12). Piper Stubbs is tied for 13th (+13) and Shakira Kuys tied for 16th (+15). McKenzie Mages rounded things out for the Jacks and she is tied for 19th (+16).

The third round begins on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
