SIOUX FALLS – The South Dakota State men's golf team was selected to finish sixth in the Summit League preseason poll.

The men's team received 33 points from Summit League head coaches. A season ago, the Jackrabbits were picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll but ended up finishing tied for second at the 2019 Summit League Championship.

Denver, which captured the Summit League title last season, was picked first in the preseason poll with a total of 62 points, including seven of the total nine first-place votes. North Dakota State was selected second with 56 points, while Oral Roberts sat third with 50. The Bison and Golden Eagles picked up a first-place vote apiece.

Coming in fourth place was South Dakota, which the Jackrabbits tied with at the Summit League Championship last season, with 41 points. Omaha was picked fifth (34 points), while Purdue Fort Wayne (22), Western Illinois (16) and North Dakota (10) rounded out the poll.

South Dakota State freshman standout Jack Tanner was chosen by the league coaches as one of nine golfers to watch this season.

Tanner paces the Jackrabbits with a 74.6 stroke average in 14 rounds after the fall season. The Glenelg, South Australia, native is looking to build on his freshman campaign after competing in five events earlier this season.

The SDSU men's golf team returns to play Feb. 21-23 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.

The 2020 Summit League Championship is set for March 3-5 in Newton, Kan.
