SDSU men in 4th, women in 12th

ELKHORN, Neb. – The South Dakota State men’s golf team played the first two rounds of the Big O Classic Monday and is tied for fourth place with 18 holes remaining. Jonah Dohrer is tied for eighth place to lead the team.

The Jackrabbits are 3-over as a team (289-290--576) and tied with Incarnate Word. They are three shots behind Omaha in third place and only five shots off leaders St. Thomas and SIU Edwardsville.

Dohrer tallied a 69 (-3) in the first round and 73 (+1) in the second round for his 142 (-2) scorecard. The senior rolled in seven birdies on the day. He is four strokes off the top of the leaderboard.

Luke Honner is tied for 13th place at even par. He carded a +5 opening round, then went 5-under in round two with six birdies.

Tyler Seeling is tied for 30th place (147, +3), Matthew Schaefer is tied for 46th (+5, 149) and Noah Boraas round out the lineup in a tie for 63rd place (+8, 152). Tucker D’Allaird is playing as an individual. He is in 92nd place (161, +17).

Shaun Campbell of Creighton leads the player leaderboard. He is 6-under through 36 holes.

The Jackrabbits will return to the course starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday for the final round.

Women

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – South Dakota State played the opening round of the Golf Iconic Classic Monday at the NMSU Golf Course.

The Jackrabbits sit in 12th place out of 15 teams following the first 18 holes. The team tallied a 304 (+16) score.

Alex Kandolin and Tatum Depuydt carded matching 75 (+3) scores on day one. The pair is tied for 40th place. Depuydt had a steady day on the course, recording a par on all but two holes. Kandolin was even on the front nine holes and shot a +3 on the back nine.

McKenzie Mages is one shot back at 4-over in a tie for 44th place. She had consecutive birdies on the 12th and 13th holes.

Piper Stubbs is tied for 56th place (78, +6) and Shakira-Ann Kuys is tied for 70th place (81, +9).

Pepperdine leads the team standings with a 284 (-4) score. Long Beach State is also under-par at 1-under. Long Beach State’s Jasmine Leovao carded a 67 (-5) Monday and sits atop the individual leaderboard.

Round two will get under way Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
