BROOKINGS – Leon Wrage, Brookings resident, takes his turn as a bell ringer Sunday outside the entrance to Walmart.
The 2017 Brookings Salvation Army bell-ringing kettle campaign is past the halfway mark. This year’s goal is $45,000, and a little more than $20,000 has been raised so far.
Dollars raised go back to the Brookings area via such projects as Share the Warmth, Operation Backpack and many other organizations that assist those in need and their families.
The campaign continues through Dec. 22, with kettles for giving at Hy-Vee, JCPenney and the east and west entrances of Walmart. And volunteer bell ringers, both groups and individuals, are still needed.
