Rangers outskate All-Stars, 10-3

BROOKINGS – Four different Rangers scored two goals as Brookings beat Huron 10-3 in a South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association girls’ game Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

Jadyn Peterson and Brooklyn Roberts both finished with two goals and two assists.

Kiran Vugteveen added a pair of goals and one assist and Addison Ramlo also scored twice.

Peterson opened the scoring 2:38 into the game.

Ramlo lit the lamp on assists from Roberts and Peterson midway through the period and, less than a minute later, Vugteveen found the back of the net on Savannah Barber’s helper.

Roberts’ goal pushed the margin to 4-0 with 6:30 to go in the period. Peterson assisted.

Huron’s Ashley Busch got loose for a pair of goals later in the first, pulling the All Stars within 4-2. Fatima Reyes and Kylee Small assisted on the second goal.

Brookings scored the first three goals in the second.

Janaya Kuehl got it going with a goal early in the period, with the assist going to Barber. Roberts added an unassisted tally before assisting on Ramlo’s goal to make it 7-2.

Small found the back of the net for Huron late in the period. Abigail Thomas and Paige Snyder were credited with assists.

In the third, Alexis Schelske, Vugteveen and Peterson each lit the lamp. Assists went to Vugteveen, Kuehl and Ella Park.

Marina Gerstner made 10 saves to earn the win between the pipes.

Alissa Ferguson stopped 35 shots for Huron (2-7-1-0).

Brookings (5-4) plays host to Oahe today at 1:30 and then travels to Watertown for a game Sunday at 4 p.m.
