Ranger Roundup: Boys’ JV squad wins three more games

BOYS JV

The Rangers had a dominant weekend, posting a trio of victories to move to 7-0 in league play.

Friday

 Brookings 14, Huron 0

BROOKINGS – The Rangers scored five goals in each of the first two periods.

Jacob Drew netted a hat trick and added an assist.

Trenton Pederson (two assists), Spencer Heflin (assist), Brody Powers (assist) and Owen Schneider each netted a pair of goals.

Jack Merritt scored and dished out four assists. Kole Kalber (two assists) and Zach Struck (assist) also lit the lamp. David Brink and Jordan Raatz tallied assists.

Kaden Gutormson stopped five shots between the pipes.

Saturday

 Brookings 2, Sioux Falls (1) 0

Gutormson made 20 saves to post the shutout.

Raatz scored on a Kalber assist midway through the second.

Heflin added a power-play goal two minutes later.

Sunday

Merritt and Kalber paced the offense, while Gutormson stopped nine shots for another shutout.

Merritt had a hat trick and added an assist.

Kalber logged two goals and a playmaker.

Schneider racked up four assists.

Pederson (assist), Joseph Wu, Drew, Powers and Raatz also lit the lamp.

GIRLS JV

SIOUX FALLS – The Flyers beat the Rangers 7-2 on Saturday.

Anna Rasmussen and Taryn Richter scored for Brookings.

Raya Hesser had an assist.

Aletha Baker stopped 15 shots.

BANTAM A

The Rangers went 2-0-1 over the weekend.

SIOUX FALLS – Ren Jacobsen and Jacob Law scored.

Luke Honkomp notched an assist.

Egan Jensen logged 15 saves for the shutout.

Saturday

 Brookings 1, Sioux Falls 1, tie

BROOKINGS – Carson Odde opened the scoring with 9:35 remaining in the game.

The Flyers scored with 4:36 left.

Jensen stopped 25 shots.

Sunday

MITCHELL – The Rangers scored five times in the first and cruised to a win.

Jacob Kahle scored twice and notched a playmaker.

Cooper Deatherage found the back of the net two times and added an assist.

Honkomp (two assists), Jacobsen (assist), Aidan Austreim (assist), Jay Harris, Law and Tre Christopherson added goals.

Riley Linstad and Cody Jacobson had assists.

Jensen made 11 saves.

SIOUX FALLS – The Flyers beat the Rangers twice.

Waylon Carroll scored for Brookings on an assist from Jack Lee.

Bryce Heflin scored a power-play goal on an assist from Cade Zweber in the second and Miles Gerlach added a power-play tally with the assist going to Parker Nielsen.

Connor Buckley, Nielsen, Heflin (power play) and Diers all lit the lamp.

Camden Riecks logged an assist.

Nielsen and Nolan Krogman scored.

Andrew Haufschild also scored.

BRANDON – The Rangers dominated again, winning a pair of games outdoors on Saturday.

Brookings is 8-0.

• Brookings 12, Huron 0

Jack Lovseth ripped it up with four goals and three assists.

Un Hyeng Keay notched a hat trick and Ethan Foerster added a pair of goals.

Tegan Jensen, Carter Nielsen and Atwood Ahmann also scored.

Nielsen dished out three assists, Weston Diers and Jensen two apiece, and Maxx Anderson and Foerster both one.

Jon Drew had two saves.

 Brookings 11, Sioux Falls Orange 2

Keay netted a hat trick and Diers scored twice.

Colin Jacobson, Nielsen, Lovseth, Foerster, Cannon Friedrich and Tegan Jensen added goals.

Lovseth dished out two assists. Foerster, Nielsen, Ahmann, Jensen, Diers and Keay logged assists.

Drew stopped six shots.

SQUIRT B

FORT PIERRE – The Rangers won the Tyler Wilcox Memorial Tournament.

 Brookings 12, Watertown 1

Graham Gerlach and Ty Harris both found the back of the net four times.

Kallen Serfling, Brooke Kruse, Blaine Zweber and Khloe Ziegeldorf added goals.

Jasper Pitts logged a pair of assists, while Landon Schumacher, Serfling and Kruse each notched one.

Warner Carrol finished with seven saves.

 Brookings 11, Oahe (1) 3

Teagan Moad torched the net with six goals.

Kruse and Harris both scored twice and Ziegeldorf also lit the lamp.

Pitts and Serfling had two assists apiece, with Ziegeldorf, Jackson Hahn, Kruse and Maxx Vanderbush logging one each.

Gerlach had nine saves.

• Brookings 15, Oahe 2

Harris had a massive game with six goals.

Moad scored four times, Bob Carrol and Pitts both twice and Kruse once.

Assists went to Pitts (two), Lorelei Koch, Ziegeldorf and Kruse.

Gerlach stopped a trio of shots.

• Brookings 3, Huron 1

Gerlach netted a hat trick as the Rangers took the title.

Harris stopped seven shots in goal.
