BROOKINGS – South Dakota’s Primary Election is set for Tuesday, with polls open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Voters can view sample ballots by accessing the Voter Information Portal page on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sdsos.gov.

Statewide, Republican voters will narrow down candidates for U.S. senator – Mike Rounds or Scyller Borglum – and U.S. representative – Liz Marty May or Dusty Johnson – to move on to the November election.

Republican ballots also include candidates for state representative for District 7 – Larry Tidemann, Doug Post and Tim Reed – and for Brookings County Commission – Ryan Krogman, Shawn Hostler and Mike Bartley. Two candidates in each of those Republican races will be selected to move on to the November election.

Democrats in Brookings County will choose between Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden for the presidential nominee.

Due to COVID-19 and a lack of available election workers, four vote center locations in Brookings County will not be open for voting for the Primary Election.

The locations that will be closed are the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington, the Sinai Fire Hall in Sinai, and the Swiftel Center and Holy Life Tabernacle Church, both in Brookings.

Any voter can go to any other location on Election Day to vote. The other vote center locations that will be open are:

• Brookings Activity Center – 320 Fifth Ave., Brookings

• Bethel Baptist Church – 714 17th Ave. S., Brookings
