Parsley scores school-record 32 points in Fliers’ win over Cardinals

CLEAR LAKE – Flandreau’s Hannah Parsley scored a school-record 32 points as the Fliers blasted Deuel 78-44 in a Lake Central Conference girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

The junior was 15-of-18 on field goals, including 1-of-2 from 3-point range, and 1-of-3 at the free-throw line.

Parsley just missed recording her second triple-double in three games, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out eight assists. She also came up with four steals.

Flandreau was ahead 20-8 after a quarter, 42-26 at halftime and 61-37 at the end of three.

Ashtyn Bertram added 14 points. Maria Parsley had seven points, Bella Pavlis and  Tishara Hardy both six, and Madie Hursey five.

Marianna Pavlis came up with five rebounds and five steals. Rylee Iott tallied four assists.

The Cardinals’ Jaydyn TeGantvoort (22) and Britney Lovre (18) combined for 40 points. Lovre gabbed nine rebounds.

Deuel (3-7, 0-3) plays host to Britton-Hecla on Thursday.

Flandreau (7-3, 2-1) is host to McCook Central/Montrose on Friday.

 Chester Area 54, Sioux Valley 29

CHESTER – The Flyers led 17-9 after a quarter, 24-13 at halftime and 43-25 through three in the Big East Conference game.

Jennilee Hoyer had 16 points and three assists. Makenna Larson contributed 14 points.

The Cossacks’ Abbie Schneider finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

Reagan Johnson added seven points. Julia Schneider totaled seven rebounds and five assists.

Sioux Valley (3-7, 1-4) is host to Dell Rapids on Friday. Chester Area (6-4, 2-3) takes on Flandreau in the first round of the BEC Tournament on Thursday, Jan. 24, in Baltic.

BOYS

 Sioux Valley 72, Chester Area 53

CHESTER – The Cossacks pulled away in the fourth quarter for the Big East Conference victory.

Sioux Valley led 18-15 after a quarter, 40-30 at halftime and 56-49 through three. The Cossacks outscored the Flyers 16-4 in the final period.

Noah Puetz finished with a career-high 27 points and grabbed five rebounds for Sioux Valley.

Ryan Schuster had 14 points, five boards and five assists.

Max Nielson also scored 14 points and Oliver Vincent 13 to go with five rebounds.

Chester’s Aden Baumberger had 16 points and Bayden Schneider added 12.

The Flyers (4-10, 1-4) play host to Canistota on Tuesday.

The Cossacks (9-3, 5-0) take on Aberdeen Roncalli in the Hanson Classic on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

 Flandreau 64, Deuel 39

CLEAR LAKE – The Fliers used a 27-10 second-quarter surge to take control and cruise to a 64-39 Lake Central Conference win over Deuel on Tuesday night.

Flandreau led 12-11 after a quarter, and then, extended the margin to 39-21 at halftime. The visitors outscored the Cardinals, 25-18, in the second half to even their record at 5-5 and 1-1 in the LCC.

Connor LeBrun dropped a game-high 24 points as Tash Lunday chipped in with 22 points, seven rebounds and a block. LeBrun also came up with five steals and blocked one shot.

Scott Lovre posted a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds as Deuel dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Kellan Benck finished with 11 points and four assists while Cooper Schiernbeck and Sutton Friz contributed six points apiece.

Flandreau plays host to McCook Central/Montrose on Friday while the Cardinals welcome Britton-Hecla on Thursday.
