O’Gorman wins Huron Invitational; ’Cats 14th

HURON – Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Justin Kolb and Bryce Hammer finished 1-2 to lead the Knights to the team title in the Huron Invitational on Friday at Broadland Creek.

Kolb fired a 4-under-par 68, while Hammer shot a 1-under 71.

Pierre’s Austin Hoss and Aberdeen Central’s Jonah Dohrer both carded a 71 to place third and fourth, respectively. Watertown’s Sam Batta (72) rounded out the top five.

OG posted a team score of 3-over 291 to win by 18 strokes.

The Golden Eagles were second at 309. Rapid City Stevens (311), Sioux Falls Lincoln (317) and Aberdeen Roncalli (327) were third through fifth, respectively.

Blake Dornbush placed 12th with a 76 and Sam Sutcliffe finished 17th with a 78 to round out the Knights’ team tally.

Brookings was 14th with a team score of 351.

Drew Cole took 34th following a round of 83.

Alec Rice (87) was 54th, Brenden Way (89) 62nd and Trevor Berreth (92) 71st to complete the team score.

Also for the Bobcats, Landon Moe (94) was 74th and Ryan Treiber (97) ended up 80th.

Brookings plays host to Madison, Mitchell and Watertown in a quadrangular on Friday at 1 p.m. at BCC.
