BROOKINGS – Garages and vehicles were entered overnight and items were taken, according to the Brookings Police.
“From what I see (in the reports), the garages were unlocked and the vehicles were unlocked,” said Assistant Chief Derrick Powers.
All the thefts occurred sometime between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, Powers said.
Two vehicles inside a garage in the 800 block of Candlewood Lane were rummaged through.
“A purse was taken from one of them,” Powers said.
A vehicle parked in a garage in the 1200 block of Windsor Drive was entered.
“At this point, don’t believe anything was taken from it,” Powers said.
A vehicle in a garage was entered in the 800 block of Medary Avenue South.
“Looks like a bag with school supplies was taken from it,” Powers said.
A vehicle parked on the street in the 1300 block of Yorktown Circle was entered.
“I think on that one, there was some change taken from the vehicle,” Powers said.
Another vehicle in a garage was entered in the 1000 block of Horner Avenue.
“The vehicle was gone through and a backpack taken from it,” Powers said.
