Masks required to get into Bingo hall

BROOKINGS – The Brookings VFW has been open to the public for Bingo the past month but now is making some additional safety-related changes.

The VFW has put in place a “required mask” policy. Those choosing not to wear a mask will not be allowed to enter the building, according to a press release from the VFW Auxiliary.

“When entering the building, please have your mask in place to make any purchases or needed items. When you have chosen a seat, you may remove your mask. If you choose to move around the building, you will be required to put your mask on. The new policy is for the safety of everyone,” the press release says.

Workers and employees of the VFW and VFW Auxiliary are required to wear masks and rubber gloves.

“We are pleased to again see so many people from our community,” the release added.

Bingo is held on Wednesday and Friday nights. Doors opens at 5:30 p.m., and selling bingo cards starts at 6 p.m. Tables have been arranged for social distancing. However, there are tables available to those groups that wish to be together.

“We remind everyone social distancing is practiced for everyone’s continued safety,” the auxiliary release says.
