Marilyn M. Edwards, 87, of Brookings, formerly of Colton, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings.
As per her wishes there will be no services. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery.
Marilyn was born April 8, 1930 in Lake Odessa, Mich. to parents Marion “Jim” and Grace (Hoftile) Warner. She moved with her family to Ree Heights, South Dakota in 1946. She graduated from high school in 1946 and then attended the South Dakota Beauty Academy in Sioux Falls.
Marilyn married Ralph Edwards Sept. 21, 1951, in Jackson, Mich. They moved to Colton and she owned and operated beauty shops in Colton and Hartford. In 1971 they moved to Brookings, where she worked at the Holiday Inn as the food and beverage director for 15 years.
Survivors include nephews and their wives, Kurt and Penny Warner, Lansing, Mich. and Robert and Joanne Nelson, Colton.
She was preceded in death by her, husband, and a sister, Virginia.
