BROOKINGS – A Brookings man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a residence and sexually assaulted a woman, according to Brookings Police.
The incident was reported at 8:14 a.m. Sunday and occurred in the 700 block of Brooklawn Drive, Lt. Marci Gebers said.
Officers were called there “for a male individual attempting to gain entry into a residence through a window,” Gebers said.
Upon arrival, officers located Jack Silk, 50, of Brookings, who currently lives at the residence.
“Through the course of the investigation, officers spoke with the reporting party who stated that she has been in a romantic relationship with Jack and she reported being sexually assaulted by Jack,” Gebers said.
“She woke up and he was engaged in sexual activity with her and she had not consented to this,” Gebers said.
Silk was arrested on suspicion of sexual contact without consent with a person capable of consenting, and simple assault domestic, and he was transported to the Brookings County Detention Center.
“Alcohol was a factor,” Gebers said. “Marijuana was a factor in this incident.”
