Lois Hope, age 84, of Volga, SD died Friday, Feb. 19, 2021.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, March 1, at Sinai Lutheran Church in Sinai, SD.
The funeral will be live-streamed at www.eidsnessfuneralhome.com under Lois’ obituary.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral as well as a time of visiting after the funeral before a private family burial in West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lois was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Lake County, South Dakota to Lawrence and Helen (Quam) Hiaring. Lois attended country school in Lake County and graduated from Sinai High School in 1954. Lois attended Dakota State College in Madison, SD and Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis.
Lois married Marvin Hope on June 9, 1957, at Sinai Lutheran Church and they had two children, Paul and Julie. They lived and farmed in the Sinai area until they retired and moved to Volga, SD in 2015. Lois taught country school and worked at the Sinai Bank for several years and was active in Sinai Lutheran Church, WELCA, choir, was a Luther League advisor and church council member. Lois was a caregiver to family and friends for many years.
Lois is survived by her husband, Marvin Hope, son Paul (Nancy) Hope of Sinai, SD, daughter Julie (Mark) Toboll of Sioux Falls, SD, four grandchildren, Brent (Shayna) Rohl, Brock (April) Rohl, Sheena (Aaron) Lewis and Brandon (Leah) Hope and nine great grandchildren, brother Robert (Joy) Hiaring and sister Ruth (Mark) Wreisner. She was preceded in death by one sister Janice Hiaring and her parents and in-laws.
