Lidia (Anna) Spomer Lovre, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 6, 2018. She and her husband, Darreyl, liveed in Brookings.

A private family service will be held.  The Houseman Funeral Home in Toronto is entrusted with the arrangements.

Lidia was born on May 5, 1928, in Morolo, Italy, to Antonio and Maria Pacifici. She gave birth to her first son, Robert (Roberto), in July 1947, in Morolo, Italy; and soon after migrated to the United States with her first husband, Paul Spomer.

They settled in Lockport, Illinois, and welcomed their second son, James, in October 1948.

After establishing their new life together in the United States, they moved to Hurley, closer to Paul’s family. Not long after, Bob and James became proud big brothers to their beautiful baby sisters, Diana and Sandy.  Her husband Paul died in 1974.

Lidia, mostly known as “Anna,” worked at the Westward Ho Country Club and the Elks in Sioux Falls for the majority of her time there.  Having worked in the Sioux Falls hospitality industry for numerous years, she was known and loved by many in the business community.

She met Darreyl Lovre in the early 1980s, they wed and soon after she moved to Lake Poinsett. She enjoyed fishing, entertaining family and friends, pontoon rides and gardening.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, often showing off pictures to friends, neighbors, or anyone whom she came across. Her quick wit and uncanny ability to light up a room will be forever remembered and cherished.

She had a one-of-a-kind personality that will live on through her children and grandchildren as her family often joked that they “all have a little bit of Nona in them.”

She is survived by  her children, Bob (Linda) Spomer of Sturgis, James (Mary) Spomer of Sioux Falls, Diana (Terry) Lynch of Charles Town, West Virginia and Sandy (Jack) Stipanovic  of Gapland, Maryland; step-children Dale and Darla Lovre; and brother, Aldo Pacifici of Morolo, Italy; her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ezio; and sister, Noemi Pacifici.
