Larry L. Price, 76, of Brookings, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019, two days shy of his 77th birthday, at United Living Community after a lengthy and courageous 12 ½ year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Brookings. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a Parkinson’s foundation or United Living Community.

Larry was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Brookings, the son of Leonard and Rachel (McCuen) Price. He attended school in Aurora District 85 through the 8th grade and graduated from Elkton High School in 1961. 

Larry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Ellen Maher on January 27, 1967, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Aurora, SD. Larry served for 13 years in the Army National Guard for the 216th Ordinance Company in Brookings as the food service Sergeant. Larry also farmed with his dad and was a hired hand for a friend and neighbor. He briefly worked for Cal Christy Motor Small Engine Repair before beginning his career at Larson Manufacturing as a production line worker and building maintenance. Larry worked at Larson’s for over 36 years before retiring in 2003.

 Larry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling, with special trips to Alaska, Italy and Rome. He enjoyed sharing jokes and was always busy fixing something. Larry built his dream home on Lake Kampeska in Watertown, where the couple lived for eight years before returning to Brookings. He was a lifetime member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.

 Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Mary Price, of Brookings; two children, Paul (Susan) Price, of Omaha, NE and Michelle (Michael) Stork, of Chanhassen, MN; his grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Price, Peyton (fiancé Toby Hegner) and Jacob Stork; sister, Peggy (Vern) Shoeneman; brothers, Curtis (Nancy) Price and Kevin (Ruth) Price; numerous nieces and nephews.

 Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Rachel; sister in infancy, Lenice; his grandparents; his parents-in-law, Steve and Arla Maher; and several brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
