Kids + cops = fun and art

BROOKINGS – Wednesday morning and afternoon brought a first-time event to the Children’s Museum of South Dakota: “Create with a Cop.” Promoters of the get-together are hoping it will become an annual event.
“This is the first time the museum’s been involved with it,” said Kerrie Vilhauer, museum director of marketing. “They do it to other places around town. They reached out to us and we were just more than happy to have them come. We’re really happy to collaborate with our community resources and have people have the opportunity to come and spend time together. It’s a lot of fun.”
“This is the first time they’ve ever done Create with a Cop,” BPD dispatcher Kristen Poppen said. “The Children’s Museum has been really busy, so we’re just happy to gather kids as they come in. People might know about it from social media; we’ve tried to put it out there as much as we could.”
