BROOKINGS – South Dakota State’s Alex Kandolin tied for first place in the Jackrabbit Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Kandolin came into the day with a one-shot lead and shot a five-over 77 in the third round to tie North Dakota State’s Leah Skaar. Skarr shot a 76 to tie Kandolin with a 223 for the tournament.
Kandolin had one birdie on the par four 11th hole. She also had 11 par’s and six bogey’s. Four of those bogey’s came on the back nine.
The Jackrabbits came in second place as a team with a score of 48-over. North Dakota State won the tournament with a score of 40-over. SDSU shot 11-over in the third round and the Bison shot 12-over.
St. Thomas came in third (+68) and North Dakota finished in fourth (+91). Green Bay came in fifth (+92) and Sioux Falls rounded out the field, coming in sixth (+157).
SDSU golfers finish right next to each other. Piper Stubbs came in 10th at 15-over after shooting two-over in the final round. Shakira Kuys came in 11th (+17) and McKenzie Mages tied for 12th (+18). Both Kuys and Mages shot two-over on Tuesday as well.
Stubbs had four birdies on the day, but a triple bogey on the 14th hole hurt her score. Kuys had two birdies and Mages had one birdie.
Tatum Depuydt was the final finisher for SDSU and she tied for 19th. Depuydt struggled in the final round as she shot 11-over on Tuesday. She had two birdies, but also had two double bogeys and one triple bogey.
NDSU’s Elise Hoven came in third with a score of nine-over. UST’s Isabelle Lynch came in fourth (+10) and NDSU’s Jo Baranczyk rounded out the top five (+11).
SDSU will continue its fall season with the Aggie Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. The tournament will begin on Oct. 3 and will conclude on Oct. 5. It will be played at the NMSU Golf Course.
SDSU’s fall season will conclude Oct. 21-23 at the White Sand Bahamas NCAA Women’s Invitational. That tournament will be played at the Ocean Club Golf Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
