The South Dakota State University football program continues to fill future schedules with Football Bowl Subdivision opponents, inking a deal to play at Iowa in 2022.
The game is scheduled to be played Sept. 17, 2022, at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa. It will mark the first-ever meeting between the Jackrabbits and Hawkeyes in football.
“We look forward to our 2022 game versus the Iowa Hawkeyes,” Jackrabbit head coach John Stiegelmeier said. “It will be an obvious challenge, but also exciting to compete against such a storied program. I know our players, as they always do, will be ready for the challenge.”
SDSU now has secured eight games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents over the next decade, including this Saturday’s season opener at Iowa State and a 2019 season-opening date at Minnesota.
This past December, the Jackrabbits signed a three-game agreement with Nebraska, with contests to be played in Lincoln during the 2020, 2024 and 2028 seasons.
Rounding out the list of current FBS opponents is Colorado State in 2021.
