High school gymnastics: Bobcats take ninth at invitational in Sioux Falls

The Brookings Bobcats had their first meet of the season on Saturday morning as the Bobcats finished ninth among an 11-team field at the 2022 Lolly Forseth Invitational at Sioux Falls Jefferson High School.

The Bobcats accumulated a total of 126.850 points, which was fueled by a team total of 34.100 in the vault. Brookings also had a team score of 32.650 in the floor routine, a score of 30.650 on the parallel bars, and a score of 29.450 on the balance beam.

Delilah Fulx had the top score for Brookings on the parallel bars, finishing 12th with a score of 8.2500. Layla Erickson finished 17th with a score of 8.0500, Jessica Fourney finished 29th with a score of 7.2000, Mischa Janssen finished 32nd with a score of 7.1500 and Ava Petterson finished 33rd with a score of 7.1000. Mitchell’s Olivia Prunty finished in first place with a score of 9.1000.

Fourney finished 36th and had the top score for Brookings on the balance beam with a score of 7.7000. Erickson finished 38th with a score of 7.6000, Janssen finished 43rd with a score of 7.2500, Nevaeh Strohfus finished 46th with a score of 6.9000 and Petterson finished 49th with a score of 6.3000. O’Gorman’s Maeve Boetel finished first on the balance beam with a score of 9.6500.

Erickson had the top score for Brookings in the floor exercise, finishing in 16th with a score of 8.9500. Fourney finished 31st with a score of 8.3000, Janssen finished 34th with a score of 7.9500, Strohfus finished 45th with a score of 7.4500 and Petterson finished 48th with a score of 7.1500. O’Gorman’s Audrey Meyer finished first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.6500.

Erickson had the top score for the Bobcats on the vault, finishing eighth with a score of 8.8500. Fourney and Janssen finished tied for 33rd with a score of 8.4500, Petterson finished 39th with a score of 8.3500 and Strohfus finished 46th with a score of 8.1000. O’Gorman’s Meyer finished first on the vault with a score of 9.600.

Erickson had the top all-around score for Brookings finishing 11th with a score of 33.450. Fourney finished 17th with a score of 31.650, Janssen finished 19th with a score of 30.800, Petterson finished 23rd with a score of 28.900 and Strohfus finished 35th with a score of 22.450.

Meyer finished with the top all-around score at the meet with a composite total of 36.900, Prunty finished second with a score of 36.700, and Mitchell’s Kyanna Gropper finished third with a score of 36.400.

Mitchell finished in first place at the meet with a score of 144.100, O’Gorman finished third with a score of 142.800, and Harrisburg finished third with a score of 142.800.

The Bobcats will be in action again on Dec. 12 when they travel for a dual with Estelline/Hendricks.
